Pioneer
Military Lending Fills Loan Gap for Military Families
September 18, 2006
"PML succeeds because two of every three customers are
referred by satisfied customers, leaders or community
organizations. In addition, PML does not make 50 percent of
loan requests received, recognizing that financial education
and sound financial decisions are better alternatives than
creating an endless cycle of indebtedness for service members.
Moreover, as the industry leader, PML has endorsed federal
legislation supporting a federal APR cap of 36 percent for all
military loans - as recommended by states, consumer groups,
and national military organizations." |
Pioneer
Services Representatives Win Better Business Bureau Award
September 14, 2006
"The Torch Award recognizes businesses that exemplify
Better Business Bureau (BBB) standards for ethical, honorable
practices that are in the best interests of the customer.
Recently, Pioneer Services was awarded a Torch Award because
of several practices, including a Code of Conduct for Military
Families and a no questions asked, 15-day return guarantee." |
Pioneer
Services' Campaign Save Military Families $50 Million
August 11, 2006
"Last year, Pioneer Services Representatives set a goal
to save military families $100 million in high-cost, predatory
debt by providing educational opportunities and services that
help service members break the financial debt cycle. This
week, Pioneer Financial Services announced that they've
already reached the half-way point in this campaign, achieving
more than $50 million in documented financial savings for
service members and their families." |
'Payday'
Loans Become Target in Washington
August 3, 2006
"Talent's chief opponent in the fall's Senate
race, Missouri Auditor Claire McCaskill, said the bills by
Graves and Talent were crafted to avoid affecting Pioneer
Financial Services, a firm based in Kansas City that makes
longer-term
loans to service members and that has contributed
to Graves. Schlein's group said the bill would help Pioneer by
killing its payday competitors. Graves denies any special treatment for Pioneer, saying the 36
percent figure came from North Carolina and other states that
had set caps at that amount. The spokesman for a consumer group that supports Talent's bill
said setting the rate at 36 made the measure vulnerable to
political criticism - and that lowering it even to 35 percent
would strengthen the measure by including Pioneer and similar
firms." |
Pentagon
report due on predatory military lending
July 18, 2006
"The Pentagon is expected to ask Congress to cap
the interest rate lenders can charge troops on loans, defense
and congressional sources said, a move that could drive the
payday loan industry out of military lending. Congressional
sources have noted that for example, Pioneer Financial
Services, a Missouri lender that employs some practices that
could be prohibited under a bill approved by the House of
Representatives, would be unaffected by a cap on rates." |
Patriotism
on Display: Businesses are in the spirit year-round
July 4, 2006
"Some might say Pioneer Financial Services
shows its patriotism every day. The Kansas City-based firm
provides financial services such as
military loans, investments and
insurance to military personnel. The privately held company
has 300 employees. According to chief marketing officer Karen
Von Derbruegge, most of Pioneer Financial's employees either
are military spouses or have been in the military themselves.
"What we've taken as our mission is helping with the cycle of
debt folks get into through educational programs," Derbruegge
said... In addition to its day-to-day work,
Pioneer Financial has displayed its patriotic spirit by
sending boxes of goodies over to the troops and adopting
various units. For its employees who serve in the military, Derbruegge said, Pioneer Financial pays them the difference
between their military and company salary." |

Information about Military Loans for U.S. Military Personnel |
|
Military loans can be a blessing, or a curse, for U.S. Military
personnel in need of quick money for emergencies, travel, etc.
Here at MilitarySpot we know many military people who have
benefited from the assistance of military loans, but we also
know more than a few who have been ripped off. Unfortunately,
there are many lenders out there who are charging military
personnel exorbitant interest and fees for loans. Many of these
lenders are located just outside military bases, and some prey
on military servicemembers on the Internet. As "former military"
ourselves, we want to be fair about what we recommend to
military people on the issue of military loans. First, we
suggest that you visit your military base assistance office (the
office that helps military families, spouses, etc.). A
no-interest or low-interest loan may be available. Second, we
suggest that you check out
Pioneer Military
Loans. We recommend Pioneer Military Loans when loans are
not available to you through your base. Pioneer charges fair
rates and has good standing within the military community.
